Technology QS500 - GSM/GPRS QS1000 - GSM/GPRS/EDGE QS3000 - WCDMA+HEDGE QS3200 - TD-SCDMA+HEDGE QS2000 - FMC |
QS500 The QS500 is a highly integrated solution for multi-band GSM/GPRS applications. Manufactured in a standard CMOS process, the QS500 offers the highest performance and lowest receive current available today, while meeting the standards and manufacturing requirements for the high-volume cellular handset market. Quorum's unique Ultra-Low-Power (ULP) receive architecture simultaneously enables high RF performance and best-in-class receive current consumption with less than 50% of the current required by typical competing solutions while achieving -110dBm sensitivity. This low current consumption results in 10-20% improved talk time. It features a complete quad-band wireless receiver, transmitter, and a fast settling frequency synthesizer including the voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and loop filter. The receiver in the QS500 supports both Zero-IF (direct) and Near Zero-IF (100kHz) conversion implementations, which gives flexibility in the overall integration and choice of baseband. Driver support for major baseband is available with the QS500. The transmitter is a self-contained linear solution with no ancillary off-chip RF filters or baluns required. This allows the use of any off-the-shelf PA to be used and again gives flexibility in choice of final design. The level of integration in the QS500 results in a total radio front-end footprint of < 255mm2 using standard off-the-shelf components and has the lowest number of off-chip components. The linear architecture ensures easy manufacturability and extensive on-chip calibration ensures margin on key parameters in production. The QS500 reduces the overall design complexity, system cost and form factor. General Features: • 2.7V to 3.3V Single Supply • Implemented in Bulk CMOS • Temperature Range: -40 to +85 ºC Architecture: • Direct Conversion Receiver using ULP technology using 53mA at -110dBm sensitivity • Extends GSM talk time by 10-20% • Linear Transmitter • Integrated Fast Settling Frequency Synthesizers • Analogue I-Q interface for GSM baseband • Simple 3-wire programming • Smallest footprint and lowest component count, requiring no TX filters, no baluns |
