Press Release - October 6, 2006 Quorum Systems Appoints Jim Benefer as Senior VP of Marketing and Business Development SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- October 6, 2006 -- Quorum Systems, Inc., a fabless semiconductor manufacturer specializing in highly integrated, ultra-low-power, high-performance CMOS radio frequency (RF) transceivers, announced that it has appointed Jim Benefer as the company's senior vice president of marketing and business development. Benefer brings over 25 years of diversified international experience in design, application, product marketing and sales management of wireless systems solutions. In his new position Benefer will be responsible for driving the company's global marketing and business development efforts with emphasis on developing opportunities to extend the company's partners and customer base for its complete range of Sereno products. "As Quorum Systems continues to move beyond the start-up stage, bringing in a senior executive dedicated to marketing and business development efforts is key to our growth strategy," stated Dr Bernard Xavier, president and CEO of Quorum Systems. "Jim is an industry vet who adds both critical marketing know-how and deep industry knowledge to the company. His prior experience with innovative wireless technologies and his familiarity with our product mix make him an ideal fit for this position." Prior to joining Quorum Systems, Benefer was Director of Product Marketing for GCT Semiconductor, responsible for mobile multi-mode products, including Fixed-mobile convergence and WiBRO/WiMAX solutions. Before GCT, he managed Bluetooth at National Semiconductor, complete GSM solutions at Rockwell International and ZSP superscalar DSPs at LSI Logic. Benefer also spent 7 years with Agere initially managing DSP applications for Northern Europe before moving into sales and marketing. During his career, Benefer has played a key role in defining, marketing and securing major customers for many wireless semiconductor products. These include inventing the 'SimplyBlue' concept at National, winning the PDA and Mobile Phone business at Compaq and Motorola, in addition to multiple handset design wins at Samsung, LGE and other mobile phone manufacturers during his time at GCT, National and Rockwell. "In my opinion, Quorum's expertise in semiconductor radio design is unsurpassed in our industry today. Based on their expertise in bulk CMOS radio design, as well as proven silicon performance, this opportunity was just too good for me to pass up," stated Benefer. "Although many radio start-ups have tried and failed, I believe Quorum Systems is on the verge of succeeding in becoming a mainstream, mobile phone transceiver solution provider. I look forward to leveraging Quorum's clear product advantages and driving the adoption of the Sereno family of highly integrated, ultra-low-power, high-performance transceivers into the mass market." In addition to his senior management experience, Benefer has also held sales and systems design positions with AT&T Microelectronics (now Agere Technologies), Cossor Electronics (now Raytheon) and British Aerospace, Ltd.
