Press Release - May 31, 2007 OCTANe FOUNDATION FOR INNOVATION PRESENTS INAUGURAL SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WIRELESS & COMMUNICATIONS SUMMIT Bernard Xavier, President & CEO, Quorum Systems, to Speak at June 5 Conference ALISO VIEJO, Calif., May 31, 2007 -- The OCTANe Foundation for Innovation (OFI) will host leading semiconductor and communications companies and researchers from across the state to discuss promising technology applications and emerging industry trends on June 5, 2007, at the inaugural Southern California Wireless & Communications Summit. Bernard Xavier, president and CEO of Quorum Systems, Inc., will discuss semiconductors in portable and wireless devices during a panel discussion at the conference on June 5, 2007. The day-long event will take place at the Marriott Newport Beach, with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. "At $250 billion in annual sales, the semiconductor industry dramatically affects the multi-trillion dollar electronics industry," said Gary Augusta, executive director, OCTANe Foundation for Innovation. "We organized this summit to give visibility to the innovations being developed by companies and researchers in Southern California. This area -- Orange County in particular -- is a hot spot for wireless communications, data network communications, the digital home and other emerging semiconductor technologies." Dr. Henry Samueli, the co-founder, chief technology officer and chairman of Broadcom Corp., will deliver the evening keynote address while Dr. Hans Stork, CTO of Texas Instruments, will present the lunch keynote. These noted researchers and industry executives will give their perspectives on "the state of the chip" market. "From the technical and business perspectives, Drs. Samueli and Stork offer astounding depth of knowledge in semiconductors and communications, and are working on innovative projects at two of the industry's most prominent companies," Augusta said. At the summit, innovations in venture capital, high-speed communications, wireless and portable devices and the digital home will be discussed. Concurrent OCTANe LaunchPad sessions will provide the opportunity for emerging ventures to present their business plans and receive live feedback from industry experts.
