Press Release - February 15, 2005 Quorum Systems and LongBoard Team to Spur Growth of Fixed-Mobile Convergence Solutions in the Enterprise 3GSM, Cannes, France -- February 15, 2005 -- Quorum Systems, Inc., a fabless semiconductor manufacturer specializing in multi-mode, multi-band single-chip radio transceivers, and LongBoard, a leading developer of managed enterprise mobility applications for wireline carriers, announced today that the companies will work together to develop and promote fixed-mobile convergence solutions, initially targeting the enterprise market. "Working with Longboard allows us to drive performance and cost advantages for the dual-mode handsets that are needed to make the fixed-market convergence market a reality," stated Bernard Xavier, Quorum Systems' president and CEO. "With smaller footprint, lower manufacturing costs and flexibility, our Sereno QS2000 dual-band transceiver, combined with Longboard's ability to provide leading VoIP-based applications, provides a cost structure that enables entry-level phones with multi-mode capability." "Our primary goal is to enable our carrier customers to offer the high-value mobility applications that enterprise customers want," said Gary Tauss, president and CEO of LongBoard. "These services help enterprises increase productivity, and at the same time, reduce the cost of their monthly communications bills. Having high performance and lower cost dual-mode phones is a critical component for the development and delivery of FMC services. Quorum's technology will play an integral role in providing these much needed handsets." At the forefront of wireless convergence, Quorum Systems offers the first commercial single-chip radio frequency (RF) transceiver that supports Quad Band GSM and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) applications simultaneously. Quorum's Sereno QS2000 is a highly integrated device that combines 802.11b/g WLAN and cellular GSM/GPRS/Full EDGE technologies in a single die, offering the smallest footprint, lowest bill-of-materials and manufacturing costs, and superior user experience when compared to today's alternative multi-chip approach. Handsets built around the Sereno QS2000 enable carriers to combine small form factor handsets with a seamless user experience across WiFi and cellular service. LongBoard's products and mobility applications represent the first step toward highly-anticipated fixed mobile convergence technologies that will allow seamless features and handoffs between wireline and mobile networks. Today, mobility applications offer enterprise customers increased flexibility and productivity by enabling business features to be delivered to a SIP-enabled WiFi phone while the customer is at work, and then extended to the user's cellular phone once they leave the enterprise.
